My carburettor is leaking oil from the gasket and the oil also appears in the airfilter tube.
What is causing this and how should I fix it? Engine works fine, without power loss and the level of oil is correct.
Thank you for your responses. |

It probably comes from oil pneumothorax. For the test try to put one end of pipe to the bottle and check how much oil appears. |

Fiat 126 has a tendency to throw oil out of the pneumothorax because the two pistons run together and the pressure in the engine block is high. If there is a lot of oil and it is leaking outside, check whether there is a wire strainer inside pipe in the valve cover. If there is a strainer in the cover, you need to check the piston rings by sampling the oil. I think you will find how to do it on the Internet. The correct compression pressure is at least 8 Bar, after pouring oil into the cylinder it cannot increase more than 0.5 Bar. |

I installed oil catch can and It's getting oil inside.
That means the piston rings are bad? Engine works fine, without any problems.
I'll get some tools needed for the pressure test and try it.
And I think there's no wire strainer. How does it look?
Thanks! |

I installed wire strainer inside breather pipe and oil filler vapour filter.
I drove 35km and there's quite much oil in catch can.
I also did compression test. I have 7.5 bar on cylinder 1 and 7 bar on cylinder 2.
With oil cylinder 1 is 7.5 bar and cylinder 2 is 8 bar.
What is the best way to change piston rings and how to install/rotate them correctly?
Or is the best way to change cylinders and pistons? Engine has 90.000 km.
And which is the best engine oil? |

Sorry for the late reply. In fact, the engine qualifies for renovation. If poor quality oil was used, it is possible at this mileage. To know whether only the piston rings can be replaced, you need to measure the cylinder wear using a specialized device (diameter gauge). If the cylinder wear is high, the cylinder should be ground and larger pistons should be purchased, or buy new repair kit: cylinders, pistons and ringa . If you want to do it yourself, it's best to find a tourtrial on YouTube because it's a lot of writing. You need to remove the sheet metal casing, head, exhaust, oil pan, unscrew the connecting rods and take out the pistons with the cylinder up. Ring locks every 120 degrees, it matters which side the piston is mounted on (the connecting rods have numbers 1 and 2, these numbers are probably for the camshaft). read the topic: http://forum.rezerwa126p....032c15b5#522957
When it comes to oil, it is a sensitive topic on the 126p forum. The manual recommends 10w-30 to 20w-50, and each user has a different opinion. Probably the most popular choice is mineral 15w-40, if the engine used for sports is 10w60. Choose a good brand, for example ELF. |
